Colonial Townhouses is a Non-Profit Corporation, established under the laws of Michigan, that was formed to provide affordable housing to qualified members.
Our cooperative is located on Lansing's south side, just off of Pleasant Grove Road. Colonial Townhouses consists of 248 townhouses located on 19 acres of well-kept lawns, mature trees, beautiful shrubs and flowers.
Colonial Townhouses offers one, two, three and four bedroom townhomes. All style of homes have full basements with washer hook-ups, aside from one bedroom units which have no basement but have washer dryer hook-ups in the utility room.
Every townhouse has a front and back entrance, assigned parking, central A/C, gas-forced air heat, an included gas stove, garbage disposals and so much more!

Affordable Living
Upon approval, each member is granted ownership of one stock of the corporation. One stock is equal to one unit and one vote. This offers a unique living environment in that it is the members who vote on the direction and upkeep of the entire community, with the guidance and support from management and staff.
Unlike traditional renting and single-family or condominium ownership, members do not pay a "mortgage" nor do they pay rent to a landlord. Members are not individually responsible for the structural upkeep, property taxes or site-wide insurance. Members are simply responsible for paying the initial cost of their stock ownership and a low, monthly "carrying charge" that covers the aforementioned expenses plus so much more!
In addition, members are encouraged to decorate their homes and garden to their liking. Members have the option to choose interior wall paint color, carpeting, wallpaper, and window coverings. Member can also opt for major renovations, pending approval, such as adding a deck, patio or finishing the basement.
